A taste of today´s technology

Okay… so I know that everything is quote Agile unquote.

It’s a little irritating to me because I am a literalist.  For me “agile” means fleet of foot and pretty darn quick, not methodology or nouns.  But I suspect I am showing my age and my grumpy oldness on this revelation.  We tend, in tech, to take a word and imbue it with all sorts of things that the poor word probably didn’t want in the first place:”Windows”, “software”, “Agile” are obvious examples.  There are others and, to me, Agile fits into that category.

But when I come across obvious agility that isn’t necessarily Agile, I get excited.  Things that are making things move more quickly are, for me, agile.  Today, I fell across this:  the Catalan government will:

For the fourth consecutive year, the Council of Judges of the Commercial Courts of Barcelona has agreed on the implementation of a special duty service and swift action protocol for the Mobile World Congress event to be held in Barcelona from 26 February to 1 March 2018.

According to such protocol, preferential and priority treatment will be given to urgent preliminary injunctions and other interim measures in relation to intellectual and industrial property rights, antitrust, unfair competition and unlawful advertising in connection with products or matters subject to display or exhibition in said congress.

Talk about agility.  The law profession is not known for moving quickly and yet here we have a protocol to bring injunctions at pace at a conference. It’s awful that IP theft is sufficiently concerning to warrant this but kudos to the Catalan government for introducing a level of flexibility in legal procedures that one seldom sees.  Other sectors could learn from this agility.

Bravo!!
