A taste of today´s technology

Hope springs

H

I have just spent the week visiting a range of technology companies in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.  Amazing stuff.

When I get dispondent about the state of the world and our general stupidity when it comes to war and sharing, I shall look back on this week’s impressions for some reassurance.  For all our worrying human behaviour, there are 10x (exponential!!) as many creative and energetic ones to be found in the start ups I have visited this week.

Old or young (but almost all male), there was some impressive evidence of human ingenuity on display.  And a generosity of time and spirit.  I had a real sense of these “makers” wanting to share beyond just a sales imperative: they genuinely feel positive about their products and services, and many recognise their efforts are built on the backs of genius so they are keen to share and recognise others.

It was genuinely exciting and ennervating to be in the midst of so much contagious creativity. Reason to have hope for humanity.

I buy technology. I am curious about how technology has changed, and its impact in the workplace and upon society. I also like street art. And dachshunds. Especially dachshunds.
