I enjoy reading the summaries Lexology has of what’s happening in the legal world, around the world. They offer a neatly headed digested read from law firms globally about matters pertaining to the law, legal implications of emerging technologies or business processes and, often, thoughtful summaries of what this means for legal practitioners.
So, when I settled in to read an article entitled Legal Department Trends 2018 this evening, I expected more of this usual fare. Instead, I read about the drying up of budgets and the demise of the relevance of the legal department as a consequence of this drought. But, no need to be concerned, the article also gave several (actually, I counted seven… which I think is more than a “several”) links to a helpful IT system that was going to stop that from happening. It also gave pointers on how to get the funding legal teams need to buy it. And, helpfully, provided some links to how to pitch the business on why the purchase was necessary.
I must assume that this is targeted at lawyers who wouldn’t recognise this as a sales attempt, using a style not seen since before that matter between Donoghue and Stevenson ie no lawyer alive today. I have to assume this because I know no lawyers who would fall for this unsophisticated attempt at persuasion. Nothing hidden here folks!
Does this stuff actually sell?
