I have been drawing a lot in airports this week. I know it´s a cliché but, in focusing on the faces of people who are sitting still, I have realised that everyone is looking at their telephone. All the time. As I am trying to improve my sketching, this pleases me because it means that my subjects are motionless for ages — long enough for me to get a decent likeness down.
But I will never learn to draw eyes for these are all downward cast and comprise only of lashes.
As I sketch and reflect, I am reminded of the words of the famous Ferris Bueller:
